Behind the Brand
Our journey began in 1983 when our Director, Mr. S.V. Gopalen, established the company with a factory based in Chennai, India. His industry experience dates back to 1967, when he started manufacturing Epoxy Castings and Fiberglass Tubes for the Switchgear and Transformer Industries. The Flange mounted OLTC industry in India consisted of 2 players who used designs imported from England. We at OLG indigenously Designed and Tested, the First External Flange Mounting ONLOAD TAP CHANGER as per IEC 60214 in November 1982. This OLTC used superior insulation like Epoxy Casting and Fiberglass-Epoxy Tubes instead of Phenolic bonded Paper material which was the insulation used in the other two designs. In addition, OLG’s design of OLTC incorporated the Coarse- Fine selector/ Reverser, which was also a first in Externally Mounted OLTCs. This helped reduce the oil quantity to less than 400 litres, rendering an OLTC much more compact than the existing designs.
OLGPL IN INDIA
- OLGPL in India has successfully supplied over 65,000 OLTCs and 7,500 units of Vacuum Circuit Breakers, all of which are currently operational and provide consistent and reliable services.
- Our product range was expanded in the mid-1990s to include In-tank OLTCs and vacuum circuit breakers, followed by the introduction of dry-type air break OLTCs in the early 2000s.
- In 2012, we achieved a significant milestone by launching compact versions of oil-type Flange-Mounting OLTCs of up to 66 KV Class and Vacuum Dry-Type OLTCs of up to 33 KV Class. All of these compact-design OLTCs render trouble-free service.
- In 2024, we achieved a remarkable milestone by developing a 245 kV, 600/1000/1500A In-Tank OLTC with Vacuum Technology for the global market. This groundbreaking achievement marked the first indigenous vacuum OLTC developed under the mission objective “Make in India.”
- The approval of our products by various Multinationals, Utilities, and Consultants worldwide is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
OLGPL IN WORLD
- In 2004, OLGPL successfully penetrated the Global market by developing and supplying a single-phase load tap changer to M/s General Electric, a Fortune 500 company. This was followed by the inclusion of the LV Bushing in 2006.
- We developed an External Flange Mounting Resistance Type Vacuum 38KV Oil medium OLTC for M/s PROLEC-GE, WAUKESHA INC, USA (formerly M/s SPX Transformer Solutions INC, USA). We have been supplying them since 2008, and over 500 units are currently in operation.
